Citynet has implemented a state-of-the-art network architecture that leverages cost-effective and scaleable DWDM technology. The Infinera DWDM has been deployed at the core of the network and the Fujitsu's Flashwave 7420 as the edge network DWDM optical transport solution. Fujitsu SONET add drop multiplexers (ADMs) are the choice MUX for all Citynet locations, including customer premises, and Central Office locations. This combination of equipment allows Citynet to maximize reliability and service reach while minimizing capital requirements as compared to SONET-only solutions. To leverage this technology most efficiently, the company has adopted a unique hub and spoke SONET-ring architecture used to provision circuits that span geographical rings and a SONET-collection ring strategy that allows Citynet to aggregate (via collection rings) traffic patterns until direct express routes can be justified and built.
The combination of Citynet's DWDM architecture and SONET Collection Ring Strategy provides optimum flexibility in addressing unpredictable demands for all possible A and Z location combinations on the network. Citynet's network architecture is designed and managed by a highly experienced and innovative senior management team that has an average of 15+ years of experience in optical networking, systems, operations and information technology. Through selective application of these various technologies, Citynet has built an industry-leading network that focuses not just on technology but on the application of such technology to ensure maximum yields, flexibility and service features while minimizing overall unit costs and capital investment. In addition to the core network systems in place, Citynet operates a fully functioning testing facility used to test all new software loads from existing vendors to ensure operational compliance and to evaluate new vendor solutions. Citynet is cognizant of the need to maintain a state-of-the-art network platform so that it continually streamlines its operational systems and strengthens its value leadership position in the marketplace. As a carrier's carrier, Citynet understands that our customers depend on us for carrier-grade services. That is why we designed the Citynet Optical Network with your needs in mind - scalability, superior operational efficiencies, guaranteed reliability, exceptional service delivery and a dense network footprint. Citynet offers private lines (DS-3 to OC-192) and optical waves (2.5 Gbps and 10 Gbps). |
